Nourishing our Neighbors

Love Plant Nourish has taken on a new an exciting project that we can't wait to share with you! As you know from our ministry page and social media, we love working with our neighbors downtown to share much needed love in the homeless community. Our experiences working closely with people experiencing homelessness have been humbling, to say the least. We're frequently brought to tears as we learn the stories of the people we see every day. It's truly an honor to spend time with our fellow humans as we navigate life together.

Happily, an opportunity has arisen at The Bridge Homeless Recover Center on Corsicana Street that is right up our alley! Last year raised garden beds were donated to The Bridge, but the garden wasn't able to be fully cultivated for several reasons. This year, we're partnering with a handful of volunteers to create Our Backyard Garden, which will provide fresh vegetables and herbs for the kitchen at The Bridge!

Our plan is to incorporate volunteers from various organizations and churches, as well as guests who currently live at The Bridge, to have fun on what we're calling Harvest Saturdays. The guests will have a chance to learn a new skill, which will be another step towards ending homelessness. The volunteers will get a chance to enjoy their beloved hobby of gardening while getting to know our neighbors. (Look for Harvest Saturdays on our events page on Facebook, and other places we're going to invite North Texans.)

Check out the bare bones of Our Backyard Garden:

We have many plans to combat the wind of the Mixmaster, the many birds, plus other pests, and we'd love your ideas on natural ways to grow nutrition for the guests. Comment below, email, or hit us on social media to share!

Bless your giving,

Dallas Farmer Gal
